Elberta Police Officer Inolved in On-Duty Wreck

LILLIAN, Ala. An on-duty Elberta police officer responding to a police call was involved in a wreck on Tuesday evening, September 23rd, 2025, a few minutes after 7 p.m.
According to ALEA, Officer Timothy R. Cooper, driving a Ford Police Explorer, was struck by a 2016 Ford Transit van driven by Sharaf S. Abed, 34, of Mobile in the area of US Highway 98 and County Road 87.
The Lillian Fire Department and EMS responded to the scene, but there were no injuries reported.
ALEA troopers responded to the wreck and conducted an accident investigation.
During the wreck, the roadway was shut down for more than two hours.
