MOBILE, Ala. A man who has been deported twice for being in the U.S. illegally has been discovered driving around in Mobile without a driver’s license and without proper documentation.
According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was being driven by Even Javier Benitez-Avila.
According to the complaint, when the deputy asked for a driver’s license, Benitez-Avila presented a Honduran passport.
After further investigation, investigators determined Benitez-Avila was deported in 2016 and again in 2017.
A records check showed he had no claims or petitions which would allow him to enter, remain, or be found in the U.S. legally at the time of his arrest.
The deputy arrested Benitez-Avila, and he is now facing a federal charge of Illegal Reentry.
He is being held in jail without a bond.
