Daphne Teen Arrested For Bay Minette Murder

The homicide of a Bay Minette man on New Year’s Day had led police to arrest a Daphne teenager according to the Bay Minette Police Department.
Police said that their investigation determined that 18-year-old Kendrick Terrel Johnson was the shooter and he has been arrested in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Ja’Tavious Damailo French of Bay Minette.
Police said the homicide occurred around 12:10 p.m. on Jan. 1 at the 1200 block of Pecan Street in Bay Minette.
They said Johnson and another unnamed suspect attended a party in Stockton on Dec. 31, 2024, and French was also in attendance.
According to BMPD, the three were involved in a physical altercation, and another physical altercation occurred on Jan. 1, which resulted in the shooting death of French, who died from a single gunshot wound.
Johnson is currently in the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility with a bond hearing scheduled for Monday, Jan. 6. He is charged with murder.
Bay Minette police said the investigation remains active and ongoing, and they anticipate additional arrests.
