Artic Cold, Wind Chills and Yes, Maybe Snow For Alabama
GULF SHORES Ala.

It’s been a while, quite a while actually, since Southern Alabama has seen the kind of cold that could be heading our way by Monday, not to mention that S word.
But if the Artic blast does make it this far south, one thing is for sure. It’s going to be colder than most southerners have ever experienced with wind chills as low as 10 according to the weather “predictors”.
The chances for ice and accumulating snow are looking more probable than not.
In preparation for such cold temperatures, we all need to begin preparing now, much like it was a hurricane that’s about to make landfall, “here”.
Besides preparing for a larger utility bill next month because of the heat wave that many will create inside of their homes and businesses, we need to charge all of our flashlights, devices such as cellphones and make sure that if we do lose electricity that we have a source of lighting.
And just like a hurricane, stocking up on non-refrigerated foods, albeit mostly junk food, is essential to weather a storm where power might be lost for a few hours or a few days.
Wrapping pipes that are exposed to the weather and in some cases, even those under your sink will protect them from freezing up.
Collecting, or cutting wood for your stove or fireplace now instead of when the temperatures outside is a bone chilling 15, is going to really put a smile on your face if those north winds blow this far south.
Talking from experience, I have previously underestimated mother nature and spent almost two weeks without power after an icing event.
Cold canned soups, dry cereal and tuna from a pouch, are worse than military MRE’s. Take it from me.
Prepare now, relax later.
