Altercation in Mobile Parking Lot Leaves 1 Person Dead

MOBILE, AL. On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Mobile police officers responded to an assault on St. Stephens Road near Seale Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male subject with injuries he sustained during a physical altercation with a male individual in the parking lot.

The Mobile Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and the subject was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced deceased.
The man, identified as 81-year-old Charles Edward.

The other individual involved in the altercation stayed on scene and after an investigation, 60-year-old Sammy Tate was arrested. He has been charged with manslaughter.

At this time, this remains an active investigation.
