ALEA Investigating Fatal ATV Wreck

Washington County, AL. A single-vehicle crash involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that occurred at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, has claimed the life of a Leroy man.
Local fire units, an ambulance, the sheriff’s office and ALEA responded to the crash which occurred on Lower Ferry Road, approximately three miles south of the Jackson city limits, in Washington County.
Davey D. Lankford, 54, was critically injured when the 2023 Zhejiang CF Moto Power Company ATV, that he was operating, left the roadway and struck a phone control box before overturning.
Lankford was transported to the Jackson Medical Center, where he succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
