Alabama Man Faces 60 Charges Related to Child Porn

WEST BLOCTON, Ala. While police were at a house conducting an investigation involving a death investigation in Bibb County, officers say that they also discovered that a man, identified as 32-year-old Jonathan Dewayne White, was also involved in the production and dissemination of child pornography.
At first, the death of a middle school boy from a gunshot wound was the center of the investigation, and then it turned into something much more.
The West Blocton Police Department got a call on Thursday, Aug. 28 about the death of a child on Hickory Street. Police alerted the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) to investigate.
While at the house, some materials were found that caused some concern. We obtained a search warrant and executed on the residence,” said West Blocton Police Chief Pete Hicks.
That search warrant was executed on Monday, Sept. 15, by three law enforcement agencies: ALEA, the Department of Homeland Security, and the West Blocton Police Department.
Then, ALEA reportedly found more.
White now faces child porn-related charges, including ten counts of voyeurism and ten counts of production of child pornography. Officers say the evidence found contains images and videos.
According to Hicks, there is no word on whether White’s alleged crimes were connected to the death of the boy that began this investigation.
According to Chief Hicks, the arrest seemed to have caught him by surprise. “He was not happy about it. He is from here, known locally, and lived here for all his life, as far as I know,” said Hicks.
For now, there is no evidence that the alleged victims in the images and videos were local, but Hicks still encourages anyone to come forward with any pertinent information about this case or any other case.
According to jail records, White remains in the Bibb County Jail. Sources at Bibb County Jail confirm his bond is set at over $1 million.
