Fairhope Police Charge Driver With DUI and Eluding Officers

FAIRHOPE, Ala. Police on patrol in Fairhope observed a driver’s moving violations and attempted to stop the man but he didn’t cooperate.
Police said that the officer activated his blue lights and sirens but the driver who was later identified as DWAYNE ADAM STEINER, 63, still wouldn’t stop.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2026, officers were able to get the driver stopped.
Steiner was found to be uncooperative and police identified that he was driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Eventually, Steiner was taken into custody and taken to the Baldwin County Detention Center and booked into the county jail.
Steiner faces charges of:
Driving Under a Controlled Substance
Fleeing/Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement
As of Tuesday evening, Steiner was still confined in the county jail.
