ROBERTSDALE, Ala. An exciting and unique youth camp is taking place this week and it’s something that is very cool!
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office launched a forensics youth camp on Monday, which gives the students between the ages of 14 and 18 real hands-on experience in the field of crime scene investigations.
The 2026 Forensics Youth Camp is open to all Baldwin County students.
Students will learn all about how crime scenes are processed.
The five-day program gives participants a chance to learn directly from law enforcement professionals and get an inside look at the world of crime scene investigation as they participate in areas including crime scene photography, evidence collection, fingerprint analysis, digital forensics, and courtroom testimony.
“We saw the need with students who wanted to take this path. There wasn’t really anything tailored towards those students,” said Katie Mooney, a crime scene analyst with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. “So, we have the cadet program for the older students.
The immersive experience will be educational and fun and may even spark interest for some to enter this field as a career later in life.
Organizers say that at the end of the program, students who complete all five days will receive a certificate of completion and a camp T-shirt.
