72-Year Old Man Charged With Mobile Armed Robbery

MOBILE Ala. A seventy-two-year-old man stands accused of armed robbery after taking a man’s backpack at gunpoint.
The Mobile Police reports that on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at approximately 09:01 a.m., officers were dispatched to Mobile Street and Hayles Street regarding a robbery.
Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who advised he and the subject had a verbal altercation when the subject left the location and returned with a handgun and demanded the victim’s backpack.
Detectives responded to the scene to assist in the investigations and located the suspect, identified as Roy Powell, 72.
Powell was arrested and transported to the Metro Jail where he was charged with First Degree Robbery.
