Woman Arrested in Theft of Funds From Mobile Homeowner’s Association

THEODORE, AL. After money disappeared from a local homeowner association bank account, law enforcement was called in to investigate.

Now, a Theodore woman is facing two felony theft charges accusing her of being the one who took more than $10,000 from the Belmont Lakes Estates Homeowners Association.

Eileen Dorothy Bruette, 51, turned herself into Mobile Metro Jail on two counts of first-degree theft by deception Sunday after learning that police had warrants for her arrest.

One complaint alleges that Bruette knowingly obtained $6,429.76 belonging to the Belmont Lakes Estates Homeowners Association between March 7 and Oct. 18, 2023, intending to deprive the association of the money. A second complaint alleges Bruette obtained another $4,350 from the association between Oct. 18, 2023, and April 15, 2024. That complaint alleges she diverted checks intended for the homeowner’s association into her personal checking and savings accounts.

Bruette has since bonded out of jail and will appear in court in the upcoming weeks.
