Volunteer Special Ed Assistant Arrested For Sexual Abuse of a Child

MOBILE, Ala. On October 9, 2025, at approximately 2:20 pm, a Prichard Police officer was dispatched to an Elementary School in Prichard, Alabama, regarding allegations of sexual abuse that occurred in a special education classroom.
The incident involved James Edward Williams, a program participant for the school, and a 10-year-old female who has an intellectual disability and receives special education services under an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Prichard Police Department contacted Mobile County Sheriff’s Office to assist with the investigation. A total of 6 separate sexual abuse cases has been viewed on video footage involving James Edward Williams and 10 year old victim.
Today, October 15, 2025, at approximately 12:10 pm, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Edward Williams on six (6) counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

Mr. Williams was in the school through the Americorps Senior Foster Grandparent Program (FCP).
