Victim of Theft Uses Airtag to Track Property

MOBILE Ala. A victim of a burglary was able to assist police in recovering his property after he tracked the property with an AirTag!

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, mobile police officers responded to the 600 block of E. I-65 Service Road S. in reference to a male victim reporting that his bookbag had been stolen earlier in the day from a vehicle in a nearby parking lot, was pinging in the area.

He was able to show officers the tracking coordinates which allowed police to stop a question a person nearby.

Police observed a male later identified as John Hatfield, 42, in possession of stolen property and arrested him. He was then transported to Metro Jail and has been charged with unlawful breaking and entering into a motor vehicle.
