Two People Killed in Mobile County Head-On Collision

A two-vehicle head-on crash on Sunday left two people dead.
The wreck occurred at approximately 4:10 a.m. Sunday, March 9, and has claimed two lives.
Police, fire department, and EMS responded to W Coy Smith Highway, approximately four miles west of Mount Vernon, in Mobile County.
Derrick Lyvell Skanes, 37, of Citronelle, and Paula Michelle Jordan, 37, of Mount Vernon were fatally injured when the 2009 Ford Mustang driven by Skanes collided head-on with the 2021 GMC Sierra driven by Cheyenne Deshay Taylor, 29, of Citronelle.
Skanes and Jordan were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Taylor was injured and transported to USA Hospital in Mobile for medical treatment.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
