Two Mobile Firefighters Arresteded For Shoplifting

MOBILE, Ala. An investigation into retail thefts at an area Walmart store has landed two Mobile Fire-Rescue Department employees in handcuffs.
Mobile police reported that Walmart security notified officers of two men involved in repeated thefts from the Walmart located at East I-65 Service Road.
35-year-old Jameson Smith and 29-year-old Braxton Akridge, both firefighters with MFR, were arrested.
Smith resigned from his position, while Akridge was fired after their arrests.
According to Mobile Police, the two were witnessed over several months going into the Walmart and concealing merchandise and leaving without paying for the items.
None of the items allegedly taken cost more than about $20, but the men face felony charges for allegedly coordinating the thefts.
Both men are charged with five counts of third-degree retail theft of property and one count of organized retail theft.
They were booked into the Mobile Metro Jail and later released on a bond.
