MOBILE, Ala.

Several law enforcement agencies in the Mobile area took the incident of a person tossing two dogs off of the Dog River bridge very seriously, as did many in our community and across the country who viewed the videos and read the many national news stories of the animal abuse case.
And, so, it’s not surprising that our local law enforcement immediately went to work investigating this crime and tracked down the culprits responsible for the unimaginable actions that were taken on that bridge that day.
From the moment that the dogs were thrown into the river like garage until the moment that police put handcuffs on the persons responsible Wednesday, many were watching, waiting and hoping for justice.
While Mobile Police were investigating this incident on Wednesday around the Club House Road and Alba Club Road area, and speaking with neighboring residents, a vehicle matching the subject’s vehicle was spotted by patrol officers.
Officers initiated a traffic stop, and upon further investigation, two subjects were detained.
Police were able to identify those inside and arrested Tavoris Gallery, 18, and Mary Rivers, 71.
Both are facing misdemeanor animal cruelty charges, police said because neither dog sustained any injuries which would have elevated the charge to a felony.
Both were booked into the Mobile Metro jail and as of this morning, have not bonded out.
