The scene of numerous wrecks on Interstate 10 Tuesday during heavy snows and iced over roadways, caught another tractor trailer driver by surprise early Wednesday morning, sending the truck careening over the guardrail and down into a deep ravine.
Just before 8 a.m. near mile marker 49, the driver lost control of his truck and became trapped in the wreckage near the Rosinton area and had to be extricated out of the crushed cab by area firefighters.
Law enforcement including ALEA troopers, several fire departments and an ambulance rushed to the scene and once again, I-10 was shut down temporarily.
A firefighter injured his arm during the extrication of the driver and was treated by EMS.
Two heavy duty tow trucks responded to the wreck to haul the truck out of the ravine while the Interstate will remain closed for several hours.
