FAIRHOPE, Ala. Theater on the bluff is coming back for the 12th season and it’s kicking it off with a real classic, “Grease”.
The Eastern Shore Repertory Theatre reported that the annual event will take place April 30 through May 3, at sunset at Henry George Park in Fairhope. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 7, according to the release.
Grease is directed by Erin Langley and choreographed by Matthew Kiel. The production will be performed by a cast of 79 students and adults, plus a special appearance by Lucy Buffett.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, picnic blankets, picnic baskets, food and drinks, but the ESRT Auxiliary will be selling Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, slices of pizza and other snacks and drinks at the concession table, the release said. Venmo or cash is accepted.
Repertory Theatre said to enhance your experience, come wearing your best ’50s’ attire!
“Think bobby socks, poodle skirts and leather jackets, and take part in a nightly costume contest for a chance to win,” their news release said.
ESRT was founded in 2012 by Erin Langley to educate and train local students. The group presents two mainstage performances each year with a kid only production in the fall and the bluff show, which features kids and adults, the release said.
The Eastern Shore Repertory Theatre offers kids an academy program for elementary school students, summer camps and musical theatre and dance classes for older students, the release said.
Additionally, the auxiliary awards students almost $10,000 in scholarships each year to help those who can’t afford the experience.
