CVS SPANISH FORT IS CLOSING PERMANENTLY!!

According to several sources and social media (you know how reliable that is) this store is shutting down this week.

That’s what I had been hearing too so I went to see for myself.

The store manager confirmed that Thursday would be their final day.

Slow sales and a large rent increase were the reasons given.

As for a big sale of what’s left in the store, forget it! Everything is being shipped to other CVS stores.

It was a convenient, clean, and well-stocked store and I’m sure that many in the area will no doubt miss having it so close by.

As for what’s next for that space, it’s anybody’s guess at this point.

Sudden Rainfall Leads to Multiple Crashes on Interstate 10

SPANISH FORT Ala.

A sudden downpour, sprinkled with thunder and lightning is usually not a good combination for drivers as was proven again yesterday afternoon.

As the rain began to cross the Mobile Bay from West to East, three accidents and a stranded motorist were reported along Interstate 10 within a few miles of each other.

In one of those crashes, injuries were reported.

One crash was caused because of hydroplaning according to authorities.

All of the accidents temporarily shut down a lane of I-10 for a short time but traffic was kept flowing.

ALEA is investigated all of the accidents.

Person Seriously Injured in I-10 Wreck

SPANISH FORT Ala.

A crash on the I-10 Bayway near Exit 30 Thursday seriously injured one driver.

Spanish Fort Fire/Medstar and state troopers responded to the accident that occurred at around 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The driver of a 2009 Toyota Venza was seriously injured when the vehicle hit a 2019 Isuzu box truck, according to officials.

Several witnesses stopped to help the injured driver while waiting for an ambulance.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

One lane was temporarily blocked during this time.

ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate.

Spanish Fort Police Investigating a Murder-Suicide

SPANISH FORT Ala.

The Spanish Fort police responded to a shooting on Sunday and found a male and a female both deceased in the yard. Both had gunshot wounds according to the police.

Officers checked the area and entered the house where they observed signs that there had been an altercation inside according to Spanish Fort Police Chief John Barber.

Barber said that neighbors could hear a woman screaming, and other people saw what happened in the front yard. Several people came forward to speak with police officers.

Chief Barber said that at this time, we believe that this is a murder-suicide. He shot her and then almost immediately shot himself.”

This occurred at a home in the Spanish Fort Estates neighborhood.

Police have identified the deceased as Michael and Kerri Settle. Both were 48 years old.

Police said that Michael was a federal border patrol agent.

It is unknown, at this time, what led to the incident.
