Body of Boating Accident Victim Recoverd in Bayou Sara

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. After a boat collision on Sunday night on Bayou Sara, several people were injured, including a four-year-old child who is in critical condition, and left one person missing.
Other boaters and people living nearby responded and began a search for the woman and child who went overboard and was able to pull the child to safety while others searched for the missing woman before rescuers arrived on scene.
Rescue agencies, divers, law enforcement, and fire departments all responded to the area to assist in the search and rescue of the missing woman
It took two days before rescuers were able to locate 27-year-old Brittany Sherman.
On Monday, June 16, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Brittany Sherman’s body was recovered approximately 100 yards from the location in which she entered the water on Bayou Sara.
Family and friends are thankful to all who came and searched. Some stood on the banks of the murky water and prayed.
Brittany’s husband, 30-year-old Cody, was also injured in the crash.
According to ALEA, two vessels collided at approximately 5:50 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2025.
According to ALEA, the 20 ft Avid Center Console vessel that the family was in, struck a 26 ft Regulator Center Console vessel operated by Jerry Hocutt Jr., 52, of Wilmer, who was uninjured as a result of the collision.
Brittany Sherman was initially thrown overboard and went into the water on Bayou Sara near Saraland in Mobile County.
The following agencies responded to the scene, as well as assisted with the search and recovery efforts: Saraland Fire Department, Mobile Fire Department, Mobile Police Department, Mobile County Sheriff’s Flotilla, Satsuma Fire Department, Satsuma Police Department, Daphne Search and Rescue, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR), Special Agents assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), along with ALEA Marine Patrol Troopers. Nothing further is available as ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division continues to investigate.
