SUMMERDALE, Ala. A serious crash witnessed by another driver early Saturday morning sent a lot of first responders to the scene.
911 received the first call for help at around 2 a.m. The caller advised the operator that a vehicle had crashed at County Road 32 and County Road 55 and that it looked like someone was injured.
The Summerdale Fire Department, police, and EMS were dispatched to the wreck.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
Due to the severity of the crash, a medical helicopter was automatically dispatched to the wreck, along with the Robertsdale and Marlow Fire Departments for extra manpower.
Firefighters found that the vehicle had hit a power pole and rolled over, and they began making entry into the vehicle to extricate any possible occupants, however, after searching the vehicle, no one was found inside and that prompted an area search.
With firefighters and law enforcement searching on foot and the sheriff’s department’s drone in the air, the search came up empty.
The helicopter and the extra firefighters were sent back into service.
Part of CR 32 was completely shut down during the operation.
A tow truck was called in to flip the vehicle and eventually tow it away, as law enforcement continued their investigation into who was driving the vehicle, and why the driver fled?
It is unknown if the driver sustained any injuries during the wreck, but the Summerdale police stated that the crash was still under investigation.
