Springhill Medical Center Receives Terroristic Threat

MOBILE, AL. An area hospital reported receiving a terroristic threat and the facility was put on a soft lockdown during an investigation.
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 9:02 a.m., Mobile police officers responded to 3719 Dauphin Street (Springhill Medical Center) in reference to hospital staff receiving a threatening call from an unknown male subject.
Mobile police did not disclose what the threat entailed but they are currently investigating this threat.
Officers remained at the location while hospital staff entered a soft lockdown, but police reported no further threats were made and nothing happened.
Springhill Statement:
Today, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Springhill Medical Center received a threatening phone call. Out of an abundance of caution, we immediately implemented our safety protocols, including a lockdown, and notified local law enforcement.
Our Security team responded quickly, and we are grateful for the rapid and continued support of the Mobile Police Department, who remain on site as a precaution.
The situation did not escalate to an active incident. Patient care continues, and safety remains our top priority.
Local detectives are actively investigating this matter, including a similar threat reported at another local hospital. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Mobile Police Department immediately.
We appreciate the cooperation of our staff, patients, and visitors as we continue to prioritize safety.
