Smoke Blowing in From Mississippi Wildfire Had Local Firefighters Hunting the Source

DAPHNE, Ala. Over the weekend, especially on Sunday, fire departments in two states and at least five fire departments in Mobile and Baldwin Counties all received the same calls…. smoke in the area.
First firefighters in Mobile began looking for the source of smoke drifting across their area and then came the calls to Daphne, Fairhope and other Baldwin County fire departments reporting the same strong smoke odor and the fear that something was burning close by.
After a dedicated effort to search out the source, firefighters determined that it wasn’t in our area.
However, a Mobile County fire commander said they determined that the smoke was believed to be associated with the Bayou Cumbest wildfire in Jackson County, Mississippi which as burned more than fourteen hundred acres of land.
