GRAND BAY, AL. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home where they were told that a shooting had taken place.
Deputies were called out to the home on Magnolia Trace Drive just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday for report of a shooting.
Fire personnel and EMS were also called to the scene.
The sheriff’s department stated that a birthday party was going on at the house when gunshots rang out.
While investigators have not stated what caused the shooting, they have now said that Gabriel Rogers was killed on his 21st birthday during a heavily intoxicated verbal argument.
At some point, Tucker Woods, 19, grabbed an assault rifle and shot Rogers multiple times, killing him at the scene before fleeing into a nearby wooded area.
Rogers’ girlfriend called 911 around 8:16 p.m. to report the shooting and identify Woods, who surrendered to deputies shortly afterwards.
Deputies searched the nearby area and have also recovered the rifle used in the shooting.
Woods, 19, has now been charged with murder. He was booked into Mobile County Metro Jail just before midnight Saturday.
