Serious Crash Closed Part of Interstate 10 During Rescue

A very serious accident on Interstate 10 injured one person and shut down the highway during a busy part of the day.
The wreck which occurred a few minutes before 4 p.m. near Mile Marker 58 involved a vehicle that rolled over several times as it went off the highway and down into a ravine.
The Rosinton and Styx River Fire Departments and an ambulance crew worked to rescue the occupant of the vehicle while a medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene and ALEA troopers temporarily shut down the Interstate so that the helicopter could land.
After the injured person was extricated, a wrecker was called in with more than two hundred feet of cable to recover the vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation.
