Rural-King Opens Alabama’s 9th Store

LINCOLN, Ala. For many of us in Alabama, “Rural King” might sound like a slogan or the name of a local hardware store, but for others, they know that the name, means they’ll feel right at home when they walk through the doors of this fast-growing farm supply store that has quickly garnered a large customer base.
On Friday, they opened their nineth Alabama store in Lincoln, Alabama.
The family-owned retailer dedicated to rural living opened the new store at 1800 McCaig Road near Interstate 20 on Friday, August 7, 2026, to a large crowd.
“Lincoln is a natural fit for Rural King, and we’re excited to deepen our presence in Alabama with our ninth store in the state. We look forward to building lasting relationships with local families, farmers, homeowners and outdoor enthusiasts while providing the dependable products, fair prices and welcoming service our customers have come to expect” Rural King Chief Operating Officer Michael Ladd said.
Rural King is one of those places that take you back to a time when the store owner and its customers were neighbors and time moved a little slower.
It’s the kind of place where you can get fencing, feed or buy a rifle.
Rural King Supply is a farm supply store based in Mattoon, Illinois, United States. Founded in 1960, as of 2024, the chain has 135 stores in the U.S. states of Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Alabama. The company also operates an online store, as well as offering an online gun store.
Kermit Speer and Keith Beaird started the store in a small building in the farmlands of Illinois and now its becoming the go-to-place for folks who still live the country life, or at least, still want to reminisce a bit about the good ‘ole days.
