Like a scene from a weekly police TV show, police cars from numerous law enforcement agencies were involved in trying to stop a car that fled officers on Thursday afternoon, and it included a hot pursuit with high speeds, traffic collisions, and a final take-down.
In what is believed to have started with a traffic infraction, law enforcement agencies in Escambia County Alabama, including the Brewton Police and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office tried to get the driver to pull over but instead, the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed through local streets and then onto I-65.
That’s where an ALEA trooper joined in the pursuit as the vehicle headed north toward Evergreen.
As law enforcement continued the pursuit, the driver lost control of his vehicle and hit another vehicle at around 1:14 p.m.
The driver attempted to feel on foot, but officers were able to subdue the person and take them into custody.
At this time, no serious injuries have been reported.
The driver, later identified as Tyrees Harris has been charged with:
Possession of Marijuana Second Degree
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Attempting to Elude Police
Assault First Degree
Criminal Mischief Second Degree
Obstructing Government Operations
