PENSACOLA, Fla. Protesters hit the streets in Pensacola Thursday and again early Friday morning in response to President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
Hundreds of protesters marched through the downtown area of Pensacola in solidarity with protesters in other cities. Police kept an eye on the activities, and some onlookers honked horns and stood on the sidelines.
Organizers say this protest is just the beginning.
Protesters nationwide are demanding that ICE be abolished and that all immigrants be treated with dignity and respect and be allowed to stay in the U.S.
Many of the protesters locally and others across the country believe that there should be either no immigration laws or barriers for those coming to the country or that the process should be made easier and streamlined.
Some are calling the actions of Trump and ICE villainous.
Nationwide protests are being called the “No Kings” protests, targeting the president’s big parade on Saturday to celebrate the Army’s 250th anniversary. It also happens to fall on Trump’s 79th birthday.
