Within minutes of each other, at least three bomb threats were called into police departments within Baldwin County.
Between 10:00 p.m. and 10:06 p.m., someone called the Summerdale Police, Silverhill Police, and the Elberta Police stating that hydrogen bombs had been planted at each police department.
Each location dispatched their fire departments to block off roads and help in a search and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded.
After a short time, it was determined that each of the bomb threats was a hoax and all emergency services were canceled.
In Alabama, making a bomb threat, or a terrorist threat, is a serious crime, specifically a Class C felony, carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of one year and one day, and potentially 10 years if a firearm or deadly weapon is involved.
Each of the bomb threats currently are under investigation.
