PRICHARD, Ala A 911 caller reported a possible drowning in Mobile County’s Chickasabogue Creek Saturday night at around 5 p.m.
Police officers along with area fire departments and an ambulance were dispatched to the area.
Swimmers said that they spotted the person at a beach area in the county’s Chickasabogue Park, a sandy bank that has been popular with swimmers for decades even though there is no lifeguard in the area.
The eleven-hundred-acre park is frequented by hikers, swimmers, kayakers and bikers along with those that come to the park for picnics and family celebrations. The search focused on an area of the stream that flows beneath I-65, just south of Saraland said Sharee Broussard, with the Mobile County Commission.
Police called in numerous search and rescue groups including those from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Chickasaw and Saraland , as well as Prichard Fire and Police and Mobile County Emergency Management personnel.
The body was located at 7:41 Saturday night, but neither the man’s identity nor the circumstances surrounding his death are being released until family is notified.
Law enforcement stated that they are still investigating the matter.
