Police Charge Mobile Man in Airport Boulevard Homicide

The Mobile Police Department announced on Saturday that a quick arrest had been made in a shooting that had occurred earlier in the day on Airport Boulevard.
Mathew Sanders, 20, was initially arrested and transported to Metro Jail on two assault charges. However, one of the charges has been upgraded to murder.
The charges stem from a shooting in the parking lot of the Alabama Bar & Lounge located at 10071 Airport Boulevard.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot injury. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A second male victim arrived at a local hospital by personal vehicle with a gunshot injury.
“Later in the morning, one of the victims was pronounced deceased, shifting this case to a homicide investigation.
The deceased victim’s name will be released upon next of kin notification.
Sanders, a resident of Mobile, was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail on first-degree assault and murder charges.
He has a bond hearing scheduled for Monday, according to jail records.
