Police Charge Man with Organized Retail Theft-Searching for 2nd Suspect

Police in Mobile responded to a theft in progress call at the Home Depot located at 775 Schillinger Road on Thursday, January 16, 2025, just before 9 a.m.

Store personnel reported that two men were involved and left the store with unpaid merchandise.

Officers searched the area and were able to identify who the possible suspects were and located the subject driving in the area of Mobile Terrace.

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and attempted to elude police.
When the vehicle finally stopped, the passenger exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot.

The passenger was apprehended and identified as Willie Thomas, 59.
Thomas was arrested and transported to Metro Jail.

Police are continuing their search for the person who escaped.

This remains an active investigation.
