Pensacola Pharmacist and Accomplice Charged with Drug Trafficking

PENSACOLA, Fla. A Florida pharmacist and his accomplice have been arrested and charged in an illegal drug distribution scheme, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Community Health Northwest Florida announced last week that pharmacist Douglas Craig Reid Jr., 47, who works at Community Health’s Bayou Boulevard pharmacy, according to the health center’s website.
Reid Jr. and his alleged accomplice, 47-year-old Martrice Lamar Portis, are both charged with conspiracy to unlawfully dispense and distribute controlled substances and to obtain controlled substances by fraud.
According to a news release, there were a large number of law enforcement agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Gulf Coast High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Task Force,” were all involved the investigation and apprehension of the suspects.
This continues to be an ongoing investigation.
