Orange Beach Police Issue Warnings on Orbeez Guns

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. Across the nation, teens and even some adults have found a new way to have fun by using Orbeez guns which shoot gel pellets.

While it sounds, harmless, police say they can be dangerous and even considered to be an assault when a person not engaged in the activity is struck and injured.

Now, the Orange Beach Police, have also been receiving calls being victims of the shooting fray.

So, the Orange Beach Police Department is warning the public after officers responded to multiple incidents involving juveniles and young adults shooting Orbeez guns to be aware of what’s going on around you.

Police said targeting individuals who are not participating in the game is considered a crime rather than a prank.

Authorities also noted that the gel beads can freeze solid converting the soft ammunition into dangerous projectiles capable of causing serious injury and leading to legal consequences.

Assault charges in Alabama are categorized into three distinct degrees under the Alabama Criminal Code, ranging from misdemeanors to high-level felonies based on intent, injury severity, weapons, and the victim’s profession.

Officers are asking participants to keep games strictly between consenting players and to respect neighboring residents.

However, if you become a victim of an unwanted attack, call 911 and report the offenders description, location and the facts of what happened.
