Opelika Teacher Arrested For Sexual Relationship With 12-Year-Old Student

OPELIKA Ala.

An Alabama teacher is accused of having a sexual relationship with a twelve-year-old student.

The Opelika police said that they had received information that a teacher was involved sexually with a young student eight years ago and detectives initiated an immediate investigation.

Opelika City Schools teacher Jill Brisendine Campbell, 47, has been arrested for one count of second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy. Records indicate she secured bond through a bonding company: $10,000 for the sodomy charge and $25,000 for the rape.

The unnamed male victim reported that the acts occurred when he was in the seventh and eighth grades while attending Opelika Middle School. The student was 12 and Campbell was 37 at that time. The abuse allegedly took place over the course of two years from 2015 to 2017.
The police investigation reportedly revealed evidence that corroborated the victim’s statement and police were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Campbell.

Campbell has been placed on administrative leave while the system aids police in their investigation.
