Multiple emergency vehicles rushed to the H.L Sonny Callahan Airport just off County Road 32 on Friday morning for a possible emergency landing.
And while some people soon took to social media to declare that a plane had crashed, the fact is, no plane crashed at the airport. However, a plane did make a “hard landing” which is different than a crash.
A hard landing can be dangerous and sometimes causes damage to the plane or even injuries to the pilot or passengers.
In a hard landing situation, the aircraft impacts the ground with a vertical speed or force exceeding the manufacturer’s limits and the pilot remains in control of the aircraft.
The aircraft, which was within the fenced area of the airfield, and the pilot, the sole occupant, was reported to be safe.
However, there was no information given on whether the plane sustained any damage.
In recent years, several planes have crashed at the airport and have included fatalities.
