ROBERTSDALE, Ala. A facility is being built in Robertsdale specifically for the well-being of our veterans.
The facility will focus their services primarily on mental health, an area where many veterans suffer in silence.
The Gulf Coast Veterans Community Resource Center is set to offer counseling, peer-to-peer support, a food bank, and therapeutic programs for veterans in the community.
What began as weekly Zoom calls during the COVID-19 lockdown became moments of comfort for many veterans.
Two Marine Veterans from 1st Battalion 6th Marine Regiment CAAT Platoon, 2004, organized a reunion to support each other during the difficult times.
Organizers found that the need to be together and support one another extended past their platoon.
The group kicked around some ideas and brainstormed, and from there, the Gulf Coast Veteran Resource Center was born.
