MOBILE COUNTY, AL. On January 20,2026, The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office responded to 12400 Hwy 43 (SSAB) regarding a death investigation.
A contractor was replacing the metal roof panels on one of the large industrial buildings at the location.
There were two groups of contractors, one team doing deconstruction and reconstruction on the roof and another team on the ground doing assembly and staging.
The roof team was using a crane and basket to access the roof. One of the roof team members identified as Johnny Fabbo Rosario, 2/16/87, was on the roof, not utilizing any safety equipment, looking for a cutting wheel to finish cutting roof panels.
He stood up and stepped on another panel that already had a seam cut on one side where the panel gave way and Rosario fell approximately 101 feet through the panel and into the building onto a metal staircase causing a severe laceration to his head ultimately resulting in his death.
The death investigation is complete and ruled as an accidental death.
