Mobile Police Chief William Jackson announced on Friday that the police department responded to more than 180 storm-related calls for service including stranded vehicles and motor vehicle crashes.
“I am extremely proud and grateful for the men and women of the Mobile Police Department who have worked relentlessly this week to respond to calls across the city.
This unprecedented weather event created hazardous driving conditions for our officers and for the citizens of Mobile, but thankfully, we had no major injuries on our roadways.
From the start of the winter weather Tuesday morning to Friday morning, the Mobile Police Department worked around the clock to protect our citizens.
Aside from those calls, the Mobile Police Department helped clear dozens of roadways using shovels, large equipment and other means to assist in making sure citizens could safely commute to and from their destinations.
Once again, without hesitation, these officers stepped up and answered the call.
Chief Jackson stated that he appreciated everyone’s patience over the last several days, and he couldn’t thank the citizens enough for acknowledging our travel recommendations and guidance this week.
