UPDATE: Mobile Police Respond to Shooting of 5-Year-Old Child

UPDATE:

Through the hard work of Mobile Police Officers, an arrest was made Wednesday night.

Zion Sashington, 18, was arrested and transported to Metro Jail on charges of Assault and Discharging a Gun into an Occupied Building.

At this time, our investigation reveals 5 apartment units were also struck by gunfire, but there were no additional injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY: Mobile police are reporting that they responded to a shooting on Moffett Road where a 5-year-old was shot during a gunfight.

Two people shooting at each other wounded the child who was rushed to an area hospital.

Police said that this is an active investigation and that no arrests had been made as of early evening Wednesday.
