MOBILE Ala.

The service of a Mobile Police Department (MPD) officer is a 24/7 commitment – regardless of weather conditions.
The Mobile Law Enforcement Foundation learned that the raincoat issued at an officer’s swearing-in is the same style used some 30 years ago, and updated options are now available.
Members of the MPD Command Staff have identified a raincoat that meets the specifications required so that MPD officers can better protect and serve in inclement weather.
Features include a tab to attach their shoulder microphone to the outside of upper garment, zippered access to inside of garment, reflective hi-vis coloring and POLICE lettering.
There are additional benefits, too. The rain gear will be considered issued equipment for MPD officers, meaning it will be turned back into the department upon separation.
With the generous support of the community, the Mobile Law Enforcement Foundation would like to provide the MPD with an estimated 350 raincoats for corporals and patrol officers.
Today, the Mobile Law Enforcement Foundation is honored to present 50 raincoats to the Mobile Police Department.
The MPD raincoats are the Foundation’s primary focus for our 2025 fundraising efforts.
We are humbled by the community’s past support, and we’re excited at the opportunity to provide our Mobile Police officers with the tools and resources they need to protect and serve to the best of their ability.
The Mobile Law Enforcement Foundation is a nonprofit committed to the safety of our community and to the Mobile Police Department. The Foundation raises funds for unbudgeted items, helping provide our law enforcement access to resources, programs and tools needed to protect our community. The Foundation also provides assistance to families of fallen officers and to the men and women wounded in the line of duty. All funds raised directly benefit the Mobile Police Department.
