MOBILE, AL. A homeless man went on a rampage in the early morning hours of October 13, 2025, police said.
At about 1:00 a.m., as residents of one Spring Hill neighborhood were sleeping, they were awakened and startled after a man wielded a bat, smashing out car windows and destroying mailboxes throughout the community.
The culprit, later identified as William Chestang, 41, was able to flee the area before Mobile police arrived
The incident which occurred on Drury Lane had some asking why us, why here, but police could not answer those questions.
But one thing police were able to do was catch the suspect during round two that occurred just about three hours later, at around 4 a.m.
Police said that they received another call reporting Chestang was still in the same area. Officers went back out to the area and were able to apprehend him while he was damaging another mailbox.
Chestang is now facing seven criminal mischief charges and will see a judge in the next few days.
