MOBILE, Ala.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a pursuit on Monday that ended with the arrest of the driver after deputies used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) to stop the fleeing vehicle.
Deputies said that it started with an attempt to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Justin Moorer on Lott Road near Alabama 158.
The vehicle failed to yield, and the pursuit continued into the Eight Mile area with additional law enforcement officers close behind.
Once an officer initiated the PIT maneuver, the truck crashed into a nearby ditch and Moorer was taken into custody.
One sheriff’s vehicle received minor damage during the pursuit.
According to the sheriff’s office, one woman was in the passenger seat and sustained minor injuries. The woman was transported to the hospital. Moorer was not injured according to MCSO.
The sheriff’s office said that Moorer already had nine warrants out for his arrest that he had escaped from a substance abuse shelter.
MCSO stated that Moorer is now facing multiple charges including fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
