DAPHNE, Ala
SENTENCED: LIFE IN PRISON FOR AGGRAVATED CHILD ABUSE
Yesterday, Douglas Lewis was sentenced to life in prison by Presiding Circuit Court Judge Stankoski after previously being found guilty of Aggravated Child Abuse and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.
This sentence follows a November 2025 conviction stemming from the brutal abuse of a 5-year-old child that resulted in permanent physical and mental disabilities.
This case was investigated by Sgt. Jeremy Amys with the Daphne Police Department and the Baldwin County Department of Human Resources and was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Kristi Hagood and Sydnee Corello.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Daphne firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and USA medical staff whose quick response helped save this child’s life, as well as to the victim’s family members and—most especially—the child’s young brothers, whose bravery in coming to court and telling the truth helped ensure justice was served.
While no sentence can undo the harm caused, yesterday’s outcome reflects our continued commitment to protecting children and holding abusers fully accountable.
