A man was found unconscious and bleeding in the parking lot of the Elberta laundry mat Monday, January 27, 2025, at around 3:15 p.m.
A person spotted the man laying lifeless near the business and called 911 reporting that the man may have overdosed on narcotics.
Soon thereafter it was determined that the man was also having a heart attack.
Upon arrival of first responders, they found a bystander performing CPR and they took over medical care.
The Elberta Fire Department arrived and also used the “LUCAS” device to perform automated compressions of the patient.
Lucas is a device that helps perform high-quality chest compressions for cardiac arrest patients in the field, on the move and in the hospital.
EMS arrived shortly thereafter and transported the person to an area hospital while continuing lifesaving efforts.
The condition of the person is unknown at this time.
