LOXLEY, Ala. – On Friday, the City of Loxley held a ribbon cutting for the new Loxley Transit Hub just off AL Hwy 59.
“The hub features an entry plaza, pavilion with restrooms, ADA-accessible sidewalks, added parking, and improved signage connecting to Loxley Municipal Park,” the city says.
The $1.9 million project is supposed to enhance accessibility and amenities within the park and community.
Funding for the project was through the Eastern Shore MPO with 80% federal grant. The City of Loxley also made a 20% contribution to the project.
Serving as a connection point for commuters and visitors, the hub is located just west of Highway 59 on Municipal Park Drive.
Waverly Construction of Alabama constructed the hub. The design was provided by S.E. Civil Engineering, WHLC Architecture, and Christian Preus Landscape Architecture.
