Keen Eye Cops Nab Burglar After Foot Pursuit

MOBILE, AL. Mobile police officers said that were patrolling the neighborhood in the 3700 block of Carlyle Close East near The Hamptons at Pine Bend when they observed a male subject carrying multiple bags and a large pair of box cutters.
Officers believing that this was suspicious activity attempted to approach the subject, but the subject ran from officers and a pursuit ensued.
Police were able to capture the man identified as Andrew Pope, Jr., 35 near an apartment complex.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered the subject entered the Azalea Pointe Apartments (651 Azalea Road) the night prior and cut copper on the property.
Pope has been charged with:
ASSAULT
MENACING
PROBATION REVOCATION
ATTMPTING TO ELUDE
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 1st DEGREE
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 2nd DEGREE
BURGLARY
