BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. Local and federal law enforcement combined efforts on Monday in Foley have led to the arrest of nine more people on immigration violations.
The joint effort of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, Customs and Border Protection, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Drug Enforcement Administration and Enforcement and Removal Operations started early Monday morning and authorities say that at one point an officer was injured.
During an arrest, one person resisted and attacked a federal agent before being restrained. The law enforcement agent was injured but we do not know to what extent.
Nationwide, law enforcement has reported an increase in resistance and violence against them during immigration enforcement efforts.
Additionally, a minor child was found during the operation and is “now safe,” according to the authorities. No information was given on the age of the child, or whether there was a relationship to any of those arrested.
Nationally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been told to resume workplace raids, including hotels, restaurants, and farms, as they try to meet the goal of 3,000 immigration arrests per day, set by the White House.
In recent weeks approximately sixty people have been taken into custody in Fairhope, Daphne, Foley, Mobile, and other areas of Baldwin County.
