Gulf Shores police have arrested a man for possessing child pornography after he was originally charged with drug crimes.
Police with the Criminal Patrol Unit made a traffic stop on a man they had been investigating after receiving a report that he had been selling narcotics.
29-year-old Stephen Terry Sewell Jr was found with cocaine that amounted to $14,000 in street value, marijuana, digital scales, cell phones, and $3,500 cash. Police charged Sewell with trafficking cocaine, first-degree possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, the release said.
Police said they were able to get a search warrant and seized all the phones and sent them to the Gulf Coast Technology Center for analysis where it was discovered that multiple photos of child pornography were on the phones.
Gulf Shores Police obtained an arrest for Sewell charging him with four counts of possession of child pornography.
Gulf Shores officials said this remains an active investigation.
