Fire Departments-Sheriff’s Office Respond to Lost Person Incident

An early morning call for help Sunday sent first responders to an area deep into the woods, along a creek and required help from several agencies.
The Elsanor Volunteer Fire Department was called out originally to an area off of County Road 87 for a person lost in the woods just after 6 a.m.
The individual had gotten turned around and was lost after crossing through a creek.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Summerdale Fire Department were additionally sent to assist in the rescue and EMS was put on standby.
The lost adult was able to communicate with a 911 dispatcher by cellphone and was further into the woods than thought.
Almost two hours into the search, the man was found and led out of the woods onto Cowpen Creek Rd.
The unidentified person was a bit wet but not injured.
On the previous day, the volunteer fire departments had responded twice to a structure fire on Pinewood Lane showing that our dedicated community firefighters always have to be ready to answer the call, whatever it is.
